Watt's in the News

Watt's in the News? - Volume 11

Help students learn about energy prices across the U.S. with a new interactive tool from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).

With an ever-increasing focus on electricity and the grid in the news almost daily at state and national levels, here's a great online resource from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) to share with students to help them see how their state compares with others around the country.

  • Which state has the highest average retail price for electricity?
  • The lowest?
  • Possible explanations why?

To find out more about your state's energy profile, click on your state and go to "State Energy Profiles" at the bottom of the page or click here.

To see what energy sources are being used to generate electricity in your state, click on the map and then scroll down: (Kansas shown as an example)
