FAQs
Your questions about air and water cooled chillers, answered.
Chillers are used for the thermal management of buildings and process applications. Our chillers are matches for any one of these applications, offering precise temperature control for efficient cooling & heating systems, including:
Commercial HVAC
District Cooling & Heating
Industrial Manufacturing
Food and Beverage
Data Centers
High Tech
Some of the main types of chillers that Trane manufactures include centrifugal chillers, which are typically used for large thermal management loads and are known for their high efficiency and reliability; helical rotary (screw) chillers, suitable for medium to large thermal management loads and known for their efficiency and ability to handle varying load conditions; and scroll chillers, often used for smaller to medium-sized applications and known for their compact size and quiet operation.
Trane chillers use low-GWP (Global Warming Potential) refrigerants to help reduce environmental impact. Some of the common low-GWP refrigerants used in Trane chillers include R-1233zd, R-1234ze, R-514A, R-515B, R-513A, and R-454B. The choice of refrigerant depends on several factors including application, compressor technology, efficiency, environmental impact, safety, and regulatory requirements.
